About the author
San Diego was a great place to be a kid five decades ago. The beaches, parks, museums and great schools all played a role in defining me. But being raised in the quintessential Navy family truly made me who and what I am today.
Starting in 1982 at San Diego Gas & Electric, I’ve been in utility procurement for most of the years since. Time at companies such as Pacific Gas & Electric, Puget Sound Energy, NEPCO and SNC Lavalin have given me a well-rounded resume and experience set. I’ve been involved in everything from building power plants to providing labor, services and material support at nuclear, gas, hydro and geothermal facilities to purchasing T&D materials. And I've supported gas systems from 16” steel to 1” poly, and from gate stations to residential metering.
The last eight-plus years I’ve spent on “the other side of the table” with a Manufacturer’s Representative. I stay involved in the utility industry that I truly enjoy and respect. It’s been an “E-ticket ride!”
But all of that would mean nothing, if not for the love of my wonderful family: my supportive and talented wife – who makes this blog look good; and the two best kids in the world, my daughter and my son. They are my resurrection and salvation.
