More than pipes and wires

This post takes its inspiration from Hannibal’s comments about Marcus Aurelius: “First principals, Clarice. Simplicity. Read Marcus Aurelius. Of each particular thing ask: what is it in itself? What is its nature?”

What do we do as Procurement Professionals?  What is our nature?

Here’s a short exercise: break down your job function into its basic components. Do a little free association: write down your thoughts quickly. Only 1-2 action words per component.  And keep them coming: don’t think too long on each one. But do think about your actions throughout the work day and write down a word or two. 

I bet your list, and its order, will tell a lot about your professional focus.  Is the list what you thought it would be? Are there any surprises? Where is your focus? Where can you focus more?
